About Moda Man
JON JOHNSON SR.
Jon Johnson Sr., the Managing Partner of Moda Man, has been an outstanding presence for decades in the men’s fashion industry in the Denver Metro area and in Southern California.
Jon moved to the Los Angeles area in 1976 after attending college at Oklahoma State University. He worked for local, regional and nationally well-known retailers, such as Orbach's and Zeidler and Zeidler.
Z&Z has been historically recognized in Southern California as a men’s clothing store where great athletes and Hollywood celebrities frequently shopped. The Fox Hill Mall in Southern California attracted some of the greatest: Magic Johnson, Muhammed Ali, and Martin Sheen, amongst many others who wanted to dress and look their best!
In the early 80’s the local sensation from Seattle, Nordstrom, took California by storm and became an overnight success! Jon was hired and John Nordstrom, the grandson of the founder of Nordstrom department stores, became Jon’s mentor.
In 1996, Jon moved to Denver to open the Nordstrom Park Meadows store as the men’s clothing buyer.
After his 16 plus year association with Nordstrom, in the fall of 2000, Jon opened the first Hugo Boss store, owned and operated by Harry Rosen out of Canada. In 2002, Jon continued to pursue his career at a new venue: Saks Fifth Avenue.
After spending a year at SFA, Jon joined Andy Morris, owner of Alta Moda, a major player in the men’s clothing arena in Cherry Creek North. In 1997, as Alta Moda closed its doors, Andy joined Jon back at Nordstrom in 1998 as a part-time seasonal salesman.
In the fall of 2003, Jon and Andy once again reunited in Cherry Creek North to open Moda. With Andy’s retirement from Moda, Jon has become the managing partner at Moda, one of Denver’s finest men’s clothing stores in the Denver Metro area, offering "a new meaning to men’s style."
